Graham grew up with Hanks' actual uncles in the Charlotte area, and after Hanks' father died when she was nine years old, Graham stepped in to help fill the void, she said.
"Billy Graham and my two uncles put the braces on my teeth and put me through college," Hanks said.
Her ties to the Graham family run deep. Her married man, Billie, was the outset intern at the Baton Graham Evangelistic Association, she said. When The Hankses were married, Billy and Ruth Graham gave them their china as a wedding present, Carol Anne Hanks said.
